Prophet Muhammad the Leader
Arabs were mere followers before the mission of Muhammad, they became masters with him; they were rival tribes then they loved and supported one another. They were bowing their heads to Kesra and Cesar and then, after Muhammed's mission, armies of Kesra and Cesar retreated before them .
The cause of all those changes was the great leader 'Muhammad' who was the messenger of Allah to all mankind; the messenger of tolerance, love and Peace. A man who promoted a religion that is followed by more than a billion and a half billion of people all over the world.
There must be some factors that helped in the success of that political leadership, and most importantly, how could that leadership accommodate its mission in calling to Islam and the confidence in its success and victory. That leadership did not contradict itself, and it had the ability to continue to call people with persistence and persuasion. Muhammed's leadership had the ability to accommodate the respondents to his call in terms of learning , organization and direction. There was a full trust between the leader and his followers; Muhammed had the ability to recognize the capabilities of his followers and therefore could take advantage of all their mental and physical capabilities during movement. Muhammed had the ability also to solve emergency problems with extreme efficiency; he was far-sighted, pretty understanding, so that he could rule the world as a whole ,and built the Islamic state tightly makes it able to withstand long term growth.
History never witnessed such a leader in these aspects, to the highest degree of perfection, as it did in Muhammad - the Prophet of Islam – .
So we find great non-Muslim writers and historians talking about him and all of his greatness and influence in the history of the mankind.
This is Michael Hart , who set Muhammed to be the most influential among the most hundred influential figures in history in his famous book " The hundred Immortals"
It was Muhammad them - PBUH – who made it perfectly clear that the aim of his call was that to teach people that the real ruler of humanity and the universe may not be anything but the Almight God, and that that mustn't be contradicted with the use of the mind and thought in all aspects of life, and, probably, the fundamental change that should be done in the world is to transform humans from submission to one another to do this, instead, to the Almighty Allah .
There is no belief-based call in history that could last through out the centuries, and experience steady growth, at the same time, but Islam.
Muhammed promoted the principle of 'Shura' (or consultation and participation in decision making) centuries ago, which enabled the Islamic empire rule the universe, particularly in the medieval era when European were deeply drowned into their ideological differences and bloody wars.
It has been the start of Islam fourteen centuries ago, and it is still spreading and expanding in spite of the propaganda and historical downfalls of Muslims.
The phenomenon of Muhammed is non-replicating in that how could he establish a state in Medina , that was the seed of a great empire later on, in just 10-year time.
During that period every aspect of Muhammed's teachings was clearly evident and practiced in everyday life of Muslims.
It can be strongly argued that the backwardness of Muslims today can be attributed to their ignorance of Islam and abandoning the teachings of Quran.
Islam is believed to be a flexible religion that can withstand social and environmental changes by adapting continuously to human needs (in a way that does not contradict the basics of Islam).
Comparing Islam to political doctrines that need decades to mature and flourish, Islam is considered to be miraculous in the part of its influence over its followers all over those centuries.
